hollywood regency

so i discovered today that my style i like in decor is called hollywood regency

from hgtv's article

"The whole style is about enjoying people, enjoying time [together]," says Butera. "It's about glamour and getting a glimpse of those bygone days where TV was less important and it was about cocktail hour and company."

from style rumors

Hollywood regency, hollywood modern, hollywood retro--these are all the terms that describe the hottest trend in home decorating today.Hollywood Regency was a style of architecture and decoration popular in the 60s As it turns out, to be a master of the style ,must be a master of the mix. Hollywood Regency design is all about the people. This style involves a lot of mirror, a lot of lacquer, and splashes of bold colors. Compare to other styles Hollywood Regency focuses on making the home a showpiece for guests, althought classic designers spared no shine, glitz or glamour in making that happen.Because Hollywood Regency design is meant to be an eclectic mix of styles with one overarching luxurious theme, people sometimes make the mistake of thinking that they can just throw any flea market find into the mix. it's important to remember coordinating elements. If I had to choose one era of style that I loved the most, it would be Hollywood Regency.

A few characteristics of the Hollywood Regency Style:
  • Style lends itself to mixing and matching different looks and design elements
  • Luxuries materials
  • Oversized furniture
  • Sparkling chandeliers
  • Bold graphics
  • Asian accessories
  • Tons of mirror
  • Lots of lacquer

some designers who fit into this category are dorthy draper, kelly wearstler, david hicks, jonathan adler
