it started friday night with sweet friends and delicious cake balls (thanks, Carrie!)
then on saturday, after a lazy morning, we had a fun girls' brunch at back forty... delicious food, and a great time with amazing friends...
poached eggs, biscuits & gravy....mmmm
sweet friends! (but sadly i didn't get a picture of everyone on my camera)
then after a very cold but very interesting walk west, we visited some shops i've been meaning to go to...
oh, also - perryn and i stumbled upon Parrots & Pups - we were immediately drawn in by the king charles spaniel & french bulldog puppies in the window... we weren't let down, and made friends with dachshunds, malteses, and one very excited yorkie... that's one way to have a pick-me-up if you're ever having a bad day - just go to a pet store to play with puppies...
then i stopped in the billy reid store on my way home. i heard billy reid speak back in college, and i love his brand - he's a fashion designer who started in menswear but now makes beautiful clothes for women too. he has a distinctly southern aesthetic, and his stores are so beautifully styled. it feels like you're in someone's beautiful living room.... i think it is really cool how his studio/flagship store is in Florence, AL... way to support small-town alabama!
later that night some friends and i got together at Bua, near my apartment. it was recommended by a friend (thanks margaret!), and I was excited to find out that Jeff Buckley used to play there all the time back in the day.... they don't really have live shows anymore, but they were playing some good music. it was like someone put my ipod over the speakers... it was great to spend time with friends, too...we had fun!
it was such a great day! - i LOVE saturday birthdays.... thanks to everyone who made it special!
