tipoteca italiana

i would just about flip to visit this place, louise fili's students visited this during their summer studies in italy and got FREE REIGN of the place...wow, how incredible would that be!

The Tipoteca Italiana fondazione is seated at Cornuda, in Treviso province, in the heart of Veneto Region.

Located in the buildings of the old "Canapificio Veneto", the Tipoteca was born to welcome events that increase the value of typography: in fact, its goal is to evidence the meaning, the origin and the aim
of Italian type designers, from the industrial revolution to nowadays.

Tipoteca is not only a rich collection of typefaces, but also archive, museum, casting and restoring workshops, printshop, library... Many aspects of the same multipurpose building.

s.r. gambrel

steven gambrel has some pretty amazing work in his portfolio... to die for, really. i'll let the images speak for themselves....

love love love it all. i love how he uses color - and he doesn't use much pattern, but he doesn't need them because he uses textures oh so well....

how do YOU take in art?

i don't normally post articles, but i thought this one from the times yesterday was really good. it's about how and why we take in/appreciate art today in contrast to how/why we experienced art before we could just hop on a plane to take a trip to the louvre, or just click to get a view of the mona lisa online. i thought it was really interesting stuff. also, it made me feel a little guilty for not truly "appreciating" art like i should....

So tourists now wander through museums, seeking to fulfill their lifetime’s art history requirement in a day, wondering whether it may now be the quantity of material they pass by rather than the quality of concentration they bring to what few things they choose to focus upon that determines whether they have “done” the Louvre. It’s self-improvement on the fly.

a southern fete

it may help that the bride, groom, and photographers are all friends of ours from auburn, but even if that weren't the case i would probably say that chris and christi's wedding is one of my favorites! - it was such a classic, old south wedding (um, ceremony under an old oak tree, anyone??) but it still managed to feel very modern (her dress! the guys' ties!...)

everything about the wedding was absolutely beautiful, and it was photographed SO well!

more photos are here and here..... (click, you won't be sorry!)

full moon bbq

"A poll featured on MSN’s city guide, recognized “Full Moon Barbecue” as one of the top ten barbecue restaurants nationwide. It stacked up against restaurants from Cincinnati, Texas, and even Kansas City.

Owner David Maluff and his brother will have to fight for that best of the south title. The poll also recognized an Atlanta barbecue restaurant, “Fox Brothers”, co-owned by identical twins."
