I just discovered this fun archive of all the love stamps 

here on the U.S. Postal Service's stamp blog.

It is fun to look back on all of these, I remember a lot of them from growing up.

I am so excited about these new love stamps coming out in May.

They will be great for summer and fall wedding invites.

I also like this patriotic ink and quill that was released in February.

Very appropriate for a calligrapher.

scout happenings...faux you

So this week at Scout it was my job to create a 1980's country club home for a commercial. To begin Kathryn and I painted the wall in a faux finish using shrimp bisque and blushing peach. Then I found a teal vase with a gold tassel and arranged some faux flowers in it and to top it off a faux painting from the thrift store. During the process Kathryn and I decided we could start a night job and call it "Faux You." Here will be our first ad.

daisy got a new dress this week for summer

brick and tin

I just had a great lunch at Brick and Tin, a new sandwich shop here in town.

I would definitely recommend it, I think it will become a new favorite.

Great food and awesome rustic city atmosphere.

This is a petite lap giraffe, isn't he cute, he is from Russia.

Here are some details on him...

Petite Lap Giraffes are very funny animal that require special care. They need lots of love. Hugs and kisses every day. Otherwise they make tears. 

If you have children, petite lap giraffes no problem. If child is loud, the giraffe will be shy, but does not bite. PLG’s are very clean. With training they will go in box like cats. Allergies never a problem. 

Size: adult is 76 centimeters, baby is 15 centimeters tall. Weight is 4.5kg unless the giraffe is fat cow then 5.44kg  

Diet: distilled water and bonsai tree leaves

Health problems: none. They are the best. 

Gestation: 420 days 

Living conditions: PLG’s love being indoors in filtered air conditioning. If they can listen to music of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov it is dream. 

Grooming: a bubble bath once a week with purified water is all they need.

So I completely forgot it was Daisy Day yesterday, and I had a picture I wanted to share, my mom took this on her old medium format camera that was my grandfathers...I love film photography, it is so rich and really captures feeling...Happy weekend!

free ipad and harp law llc

So a client we have here at work, Harp Law LLC, decided he would hold a competition to give away his old ipad to whoever wrote the best essay on why they "need" an ipad, and I won. I am so excited about my new ipad.

Here is my essay...

I would love to have an ipad to use as I start up my stationerybusiness. It is my dream to have a stationery business one day and Icurrently take on a few side projects of design wedding stationery forfriends. As I take on clients an ipad would be the ideal method forshowing my portfolio. I usually am meeting with potential clients on awhim and at places, like restaurants, that are hard to take portfoliopieces with me or the laptop is too bulky. So the ipad would come inhandy because it is small and portable yet has a great display screento showcase my work.

scout happenings...unused work and the newspaper

I did these owl illustrations for a project here at Scout but we didn't end up using them, I thought they were cute, I may use the top one for some notecards and I am looking for an elementary school reading program who could use the bottom one.

I did this watercolor of some succulents for another project and we didn't end up going this direction either...I think it will be nice to hang up at home now or use for a summer party invite.

And Kathryn and Curt and Charlton and I were in the Birmingham News representing Scout at the Addy's. It is fun to have a picture in the newspaper. We are the top right.
