ai carver

i discovered the work of ai carver on design work life this morning...thought i would share

i love my city

this saturday in an effort to decompress from an out-of-control week, take advantage of the beautiful weather, and also because i have a new camera to play with, i spent most of the day wandering around the city. i literally took ONE train ride, and still managed to hit up williamsburg, the LES, dumbo, brooklyn heights, cobble hill, the williamsburg bridge, and the manhattan bridge. i was going to go for the east river bridge trifecta and walk the brooklyn bridge back, but my feet (and fears of bikes plowing me over) told me no.

so even though i have to be at work ridiculously early tomorrow, i can't go to sleep so here's a little rundown, photojournal style.

every time i see this bridge i have to sing simon & garfunkel.

dear NYC developers: please, please don't ever tear down the domino sugar plant.

for all your accordion needs.

they don't build them like this anymore.

artful graffiti on the manhattan bridge. my fave of the day's pictures.

view from the bridge.

Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

was i done walking yet? see above.

why hello there mr. gehry. nice of you to grace us with your presence.

brooklyn heights. in awe.

how do i manage to live HERE one day?

copper patina makes my heart go pitter patter every time.

fancy.

THE END.

they're called forget me nots for a reason.

so my friend maggie has become someone i can depend on to always ask for flower arrangements here and there when she needs them, and i love it! last week she asked me to put together some flowers for an event she was coordinating for her work. perfect timing because the most gorgeous, colorful spring flowers are just starting to come out in the market which is such a relief from this interminable winter. we went super-springy with pink tulips, astrantia, geranium leaves, and forget me nots. we had a close call and thought we were about to lose the forget me nots, but they managed to make it through.... lesson learned. they are delicate little boogers.

anywho, i was happy with how it all came out - we tied them up with lace in cute little bouquets so people could take them home after the dinner. so springy! so fun! thanks again, maggie!!
