felted acorns

oh, man... the felted acorns featured this morning on design*sponge are just too cute!! - i think a tall, clear cylinder vase full of these would be really great as part of a winter centerpiece!... or there are probably a ton more uses i could think of....

the rest of the items in reya veltman's etsy shop are beautiful as well - her shop really makes me want to learn how to felt... i need to find somewhere to take lessons asap!

cupcake cupcake

i love it when someone just gets your style... i got an email today from a friend who i miss a lot... she said she thought i would like this tutorial on 100 layer cake, and she was right!! - how fun would it be to have these all over the place for a party? or strung on a christmas tree? - ooh, and for a new year's party you could add in some metallic cupcake liners! - fancy....

christmas in nyc

i have a love/hate relationship with christmas here in nyc. i love it because there are so many amazing things to do. but i hate it because there are TOO many amazing things to do....

this weekend is no exception - there's the martha stewart holiday craft sale.... with items created by the contributors to martha's craft blog. something tells me there will be some pretty impressive stuff there.

then, there's a workshop at the museum of arts & design on japanese holiday cards and gift wrapping. i love the MAD, and judging by the picture, i'm pretty sure i NEED to know how to wrap gifts japanese-style.

plus, there are gifts to be bought, cards to be made, friends to catch up with, and apartments to clean.... how to fit it all in???

stitched thank-yous

my friend maggie asked me to make her a set of thank-yous for all of the wedding festivities she's having these days. it only took me forever & a day to get them done, but i finally finished them last night! - here they are.... inspired by a lot of the hollywood regency patterns i've been loving lately...

haha..... i got tired of looking at pictures on my hardwood floors so i tried to create a backdrop a la school day pictures.... awesome, right? it's like glamour shots for cards....

(in case you read this before i see you this afternoon, maggie... sorry to ruin the surprise! - consider this a sneak peek...)

(oh and rhonda, in case you're reading this too.... i haven't forgotten about your set! - they're in progress and will be coming next... this one just had a set time limit...)

more b'day cupcakes!

while i was down at the beach with the fam last week, i brought my crafting supplies with me to make some cards for a few july birthdays... the intent was to make more cupcake cards, but sadly i forgot to bring my scissors... so cutting out fabric wasn't exactly an option. i did, however, have my needle and thread so i made do with what i had... and i kinda like how they turned out!

so happy birthday melissa, meghan, and margaret!!

a cute embroidered headboard

i LOVE this idea from designsponge today!

if my room was just 3 inches longer, i would be able to squeeze a headboard between my bed and the wall. and i would totally make this...

stichin' pretty

i am in love with the stitching details on these sheets by john robshaw on designsponge today.

diy headband

i am a sucker for any blog posting including diy instructions for something cute.... i am trying to keep all of the good ones i see in a favorites folder so one day, when i have all the time in the world i can have a diy-cuteness marathon!

this one from heart of light is great - i think it's a lot like that headband from anthro that i spent way too much money on...

here is another music video from lisa hannigan featuring a beautiful craft (see the last one here)... in this one she creates a whole paper-cut world around her.... good stuff!

it's funny, i've been listening to her songs on daytrotter this week, too! such a cute voice she has...

b'day card cupcake bonanza

so several (5 to be exact) of my favorite friends/sister have birthdays at the end of february and beginning of march. and instead of buying expensive letterpressed cards from my favorite store paper presentation like i usually do, i had this idea for a card i could make them... i bought a little bundle of quilting fabric scraps from purl patchwork, and got to stitchin'.

now that all of the birthdays are over and the cards are no longer a surprise, i can post them here! - so... a(nother) happy birthday to meagan, carrie, megan, nicole, and daniela!!

(i apologize again for the horrible photography.... it's really hard to find a decent place to shoot anything in this tiny sardine-sized apartment...)

if money grew on trees....

i would join in this day-long alabama chanin workshop with natalie chanin & angie mosier. they're having a workshop in NYC on april 4 for the low (note the sarcasm please) price of $450. so i'll start taking donations now, thank you...

here are a few more images i loved from the alabama chanin website...
