I am in love with the stitched doily runner from a wedding featured in today's belle decor post from garden & gun!

london anthro
i found this image on anthropologie's flickr page (via their twitter feed - haha, SO tech savvy...) and absolutely fell in love. they are building a new store in london, in an old building formerly used as an antiques dealer and a billiard hall. i am a sucker for stained glass windows (as well as curved bay windows), and can only imagine how beautiful this store is going to be... can't wait to see pictures of the finished product.

b'day flowers, a week later
so the people in my life know the way to my heart - birthday flowers!... (i guess i make it a little obvious sometimes...)
my parents sent flowers to me at work the friday before my birthday (great to be surprised!), and my friend pamela got me some great tiny yellow roses from the union square farmers' market (which are still going strong almost 2 weeks later, by the way...)
while they were beautiful to begin with, i almost like the flowers better as they're getting a little bit older...
the little yellow roses opened up really nicely, and faded to a creamy color...
this pink ranunculus (!!) was so beautiful and open, and the petals almost translucent right before it bit the dust. (sorry for the blurry pic - my camera doesn't quite know what to do with close-ups)

ranunculus is back!
so we are officially in the dead of winter - and (at least here in nyc) we still have at least a couple more months of bone-chilling weather ahead of us.
which is sad.
BUT - there's a bright side to it... this is the time of year that we start seeing my favorite flower, ranunculus popping up here and there - and it makes me believe that i can, in fact, make it to spring! it is such a happy little flower, and is usually mixed with other spring flowers which are equally as cheerful...
as evidenced on some of my favorite flower blogs:
studio choo
anticipation (i think this arrangement is my fave!)
saipua
...and more saipua
yay, ranunculus!

cupcake cupcake
i love it when someone just gets your style... i got an email today from a friend who i miss a lot... she said she thought i would like this tutorial on 100 layer cake, and she was right!! - how fun would it be to have these all over the place for a party? or strung on a christmas tree? - ooh, and for a new year's party you could add in some metallic cupcake liners! - fancy....

beautiful window
everyone around me keeps talking about the dia:beacon in Beacon, NY. it's a contemporary art museum out in pretty much the middle of nowhere, north of nyc. from what i hear, it is worth the trip on the metronorth - i need to make it up there sometime soon.

ode to anthropologie
oh, anthro - you have my heart forever.
it's pretty much a given that at any point in time i will be in love with one or more object from anthropologie. i don't know if it's because now it's fall (my fave) or if they've perhaps recently started designing things specifically with me in mind.... but there are SO many things right now that i am loving....
like these accessories:
phlox flats
ring & peal cloche (i only wish i could pull off a hat like this....)
belsay bangle
spider chrysanthemum scarf
and these home goods:
cameo lace chair
(sidenote: i am in LOVE with this upholstery, and have had a sample of it - Maharam Intricate in Coffee - pinned up in my cube at work for at least a year now, so i was excited to see it here!)
ikat rug
estuary lampshade
castilla lampshade
and these dishes:
scenic dessert plates
paint by number dessert plate
bateau platter
ah..... i will always love anthro for its never-ending inspiration!

lambs ear & scabiosa
i am obsessed with this arrangement of lambs ear & scabiosa from jayson home & garden (...which i just found in lonny magazine - how have i not known about this shop until now??)
i absolutely love the color combo and the play on textures. but sadly, if i had this sitting in my apartment right now there would probably be no lambs ear left because i would have ruined it by constantly rubbing it.... it is so soft! so it's probably better that i just admire this on the screen for now.....

pumpkin palette
I was looking around martha stewart crafts today, trying to find something fun to make for halloween. i saw this beautiful image here while browsing around... again, proving that i'm a sucker for anything arranged in color order.
and in case you've ever wanted to know anything at all about pumpkins, you can read the little article and call yourself a pumpkin expert!

if money grew on trees....

i would join in this day-long alabama chanin workshop with natalie chanin & angie mosier. they're having a workshop in NYC on april 4 for the low (note the sarcasm please) price of $450. so i'll start taking donations now, thank you...
