chef jenny lyn

My friend Jenny is a Pampered Chef consultant as well as a wiz in the kitchen. She also loves cooking with friends. She started a blog, Real Kitchen. Real Life. and I helped her with the design of it. She features her favorite recipes and give step by step pictures, so if you are learning to cook this will be a great resource. She also features her Pampered Chef Products so you can see how handy they all are. And I have lots of Pampered Chef, I love it, my favorite tool is the garlic press.

This morning she brought our Bible study the homemade oreos, they were amazing!

Also check out her recipe for chocolate chip cookies, they are the best ever!

bowery valentine

this weekend i spent so much time in the flower market, and i loved it! - i think every weekend should be like this one was. on saturday i put together some flowers for my friend kyo's wedding shower (pics to come soooon!)

and yesterday i helped with some flowers for a valentine's day party my friend katherine was putting on for the lovely ladies of the bowery mission women's center. we wanted to do something simple and cost-effective, but still something special that each participant could take for herself. i found some super cute hot pink spray roses, and just put them in little bundles in some cute mini takeout boxes (inspired by this!) that perryn and some of my other fellow volunteers embellished... i think they turned out so cute, and they were so easy! i hear they were a big hit, too! all in all, everything (including a meal for 15 people!) came together so smoothly in very little time thanks to an awesome team!

happy valentine's day

Here is a small arrangement I made back at Christmas for a party I had, but since Valentine's shares a love for red with Christmas, I thought I would share these sweet little flowers.

P.S.
Leeanne has some gorgeous flower arrangement pics from a bridal shower
from the weekend, I can't wait to see!

valentine's breakfast

Saturday morning I made Charlton sour cream pancakes with raspberry sauce and homemade whipped creme, it was delicious and it looked so pretty I thought I would share it with y'all...

sour creme pancakes
from The Southern Living cookbook

3 eggs, separated . 1 1/2 cups sour cream . 1 tsp baking soda . 1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder . 1/2 tsp salt . 1 tbsp sugar . 3 tbsp butter or margarine, softened

Beat egg yolks. Combine sour creme and soda; stir into egg yolks. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar; stir into sour cream mixture. Add butter, and beat at medium speed of an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form; fold egg whites into batter.

For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup batter onto a hot, lightly greased griddle. Turn pancakes when tops are covered with bubbles and edges looked cooked.

Yield: 14 (4-inch) pancakes

raspberry sauce
my own creation

2 bags of frozen raspberries (I used ones from Whole Foods)
1/2 cup sugar

Place the bags of raspberries in a bowl of hot water and let thaw. Open bags and put raspberries in a saucepan on the stove on medium heat. Add sugar. When raspberries have given their juices, bring to a boil until sauce starts to thicken. Remove from heat. Strain mixture in a mesh strainer to remove seeds.

whipped cream
from The Southern Living Cookbook

1 cup whipping creme . 1 tsp vanilla extract . 2 to 4 tbsp powdered sugar

Beat whipping creme and vanilla extract until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar,
beating until soft peaks form.

Yield: 2 cups

erie basin beaut

i don't want to sound like an engagement-ring-crazed girl, and i am not even anywhere CLOSE to needing one of these, but today i have fallen in love with this ring from erie basin. i'd like for you all to put aside the fact that it's an engagement ring, and just appreciate it for its amazing beauty and uniqueness. and everyone sigh with me... gorgeous. also take a look around erie basin's website if you haven't before. super cool. i'm hoping to make a trip out to red hook to visit the store soon. maybe when it gets a little warmer...

whole foods v-day campaign

i love these posters that whole foods has up for valentine's day, i think they are so clever, maybe because i love quiche and brie (excuse the bad cell phone pics, that is all i could do...and i couldn't find any good pics on the internet of these)

i also love chocolate covered strawberries, check this recipe out from whole foods
