krislyn

how beautiful is this?

"floral couture" by krislyn....

i may be insane...

....but i am completely obsessed with finding a specific color of this nail polish. OPI has put out a line of colors for sephora, and "metro chic" has been flying off the shelves. i haven't been able to find a bottle of it at sephora yet...and who really wants to pay for shipping for a $9 bottle of nail polish from the online store anyway? well, according to my local sephora, they got a shipment in after closing tonight. so i am definitely planning on skipping out from work at 10am tomorrow (but don't worry, it's just a block away...) in hopes of finding my very own bottle!

that's probably more information than anyone wanted to read, but all that to say...how much fun is a smokey grey color for nail polish?

leanimal takes the cake!

i'm so excited for leanne marshall, who won project runway tonight! - she wasn't my favorite ONLY because we have the same name and because she has come up with the best nickname ever for it (leanimal!), but i think she's amazingly talented, too! - so yay for leanne!

tea

so i am researching some quotes on tea for a project...here are some i like...

Tea to the English is really a picnic indoors. ~Alice Walker

Great love affairs start with Champagne and end with tisane. ~Honoré de Balzac

Tea's proper use is to amuse the idle, and relax the studious, and dilute the full meals of those who cannot use exercise, and will not use abstinence. ~Samuel Johnson

Another novelty is the tea-party, an extraordinary meal in that, being offered to persons that have already dined well, it supposes neither appetite nor thirst, and has no object but distraction, no basis but delicate enjoyment. ~Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~C.S. Lewis

Remember the tea kettle - it is always up to its neck in hot water, yet it still sings! ~Author Unknown

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea” ~Henry James

how cute is this bird feeder?

and sustainable too!

19th century pocket diaries and their diarists

today me and sarah robins took a trip to the university of alabama to view an exhibit on pocket diaries and hear a lecture....it was very interesting to hear how pocket diaries came to be and the process behind their design and manufacturing and how they play into history

here are a few pictures of the books...click here to visit their flickr album and see more pictures
