19th century pocket diaries and their diarists

today me and sarah robins took a trip to the university of alabama to view an exhibit on pocket diaries and hear a lecture....it was very interesting to hear how pocket diaries came to be and the process behind their design and manufacturing and how they play into history

reynoldsware

this is some absolutely amazing pottery - reynoldsware is based out of the uk, and they make moldings of everything from gourds, onions, fennel, coffee carafes, jugs, blenders....you name it, they make a cast of it and make it into beautiful porcelain pieces...

5 year diary

i've been meaning to buy one of these for a while now... it's a 5 year diary, and there are a few lines for every day of the year for 5 years. each page is one date, through 5 different years. every day you jot down a short journal entry, so eventually you can see what you wrote on the same day in years past... maybe i can get one and start in the habit of journaling every day.... i always have good intentions, but it never seems to work out. this is such a great idea, though - it would be interesting to see what you were thinking and doing on the exact same day the years before...

holly, in your calligraphy research, have you come across Jenna? she is a brooklyn-based calligrapher, and she has a lovely style...so carefree, and her calligraphic illustrations are so cute... good stuff! - and how amazing would it be to have "calligrapher" be your occupation?...

so my design director, roy, is married to sarah robins' art director, liane...anyway so through sr's blog the life of us i found the burns' blog on their house they are building which is way cool...and the blog has a bunch of great links as well

fall at paper source

i love some of the fall crafts they have at paper source...i am planning on making some this fall...when i was in chicago i got the supplies for the owl pocketbooks...and for place card holders for brigette's bridesmaids luncheon i think i am going to make these pumpkins...check out paper source for more crafts...oh and for anyone down here in the south there is a new location opening in the fabulous virginia highlands outside of atlanta

i have been doing some research on calligraphy artists for a project i am working on...elvis swift is one of my favorites i have come across...i love the simplicity of his rendering of his subject yet complexity and intricacy of his line

so i usually don't find furniture that i would love to have while i'm working (i design banking institutions & offices...it can be pretty blah.) BUT i found this one via the hightower group and i think it is so cute! i think i'd like it better in a brighter pattern, but i'll take one thank you!
